Despite their strained past, Yamamoto impulsively decides to hide Megumi in his apartment—just for one night, or so he thinks. That single night stretches into an indefinite period, and the pair find themselves in an uneasy and secretive cohabitation. They are not friends; they are not lovers. Theirs is a relationship "more than friends, but less than lovers," bound by necessity and a shared secret. As the story progresses, Yamamoto and Megumi begin to witness new sides to each other, breaking down the walls of their high school animosity and gradually discovering that the living situation they both dreaded is, surprisingly, "not that uncomfortable".
