From a support perspective, many of the original Cisco 800 series routers are now in the or End-of-Support (EOS) phase. This means that while you can still run this image, Cisco may no longer provide new security patches or technical support for the hardware. For production environments, organizations are generally advised to migrate to newer platforms like the Cisco 1100 series ISRs or Catalyst 8000 Edge Platforms, which run the newer IOS XE operating system.
