What (RetroArch, Mednafen, Steam Deck, etc.) are you using?
The gold standard for Saturn emulation accuracy natively supports CHD files.
Your hard drive is too slow. Move the CHD files to an SSD. Alternatively, enable “Async decompression” in RetroArch (Settings -> CD Access Method -> Asynchronous).
